KCP students Jason Coskun, Mathieu Leduc, and Matthew Moore were fortunate enough to witness the extravaganza. Acting as tour guides were students from Tokyo Design Technology Center, a KCP-affiliated technical school. Jason Azimi, a KCP alumnus and now a student at the Japanese technical school, was also at the show.

This year’s Tokyo Game Show ran September 15-18. It was hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. The show had its highest attendance ever–222,668 visitors. Due to the staggering number of guests, the 2012 Tokyo Game Show has already been scheduled for September 20 -23, also at Makuhari Messe.

The game industry is a multi-billion dollar business,  and the Japanese market for games is second only to the U.S. Japanese gaming developers have been and continue to be in the forefront–consider such classics as Mario Brothers, Pacman, and Final Fantasy. The love affair of the Japanese with gadgets has led to some of the most technologically savvy ones.

In addition to showcasing the much awaited video games and futuristic gadgetry soon to be released, this year’s show joined in fund-raising for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Their slogan was “Cheer up Japan with Games.” This year’s Tokyo Game Show, without a doubt, cheered up the KCP students with all the amazing games and gadgets.
