The dorm manager and staff were the best.

Gavon from 2013

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Summer Short Term Cultural excursion was fun and interesting. It was a great way to experience a small part of Japan, especially for those who have never been to Japan before. I only wish there could have been a little bit more cultural experiences planned but I know that with Summer Short there is only a small amount of time. I would have enjoyed it if there were more Saturday cultural sessions planned.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work, drill practice, and one-on-one sessions with a sensei worked the best. Small group sessions , games and tests were useful but to a lesser degree.

Where did you reside over the course of this program?

Dormitory

Where did you live?

Azeria Kasai II

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

The dorm manager and staff were the best. They made my experience extremely memorable and a lot more fun. Although, the location is not convenient due to the long commute. Even though the commute is difficult I would stay here again because Kasai is a beautiful area due to the proximity to large parks and the water.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Plan for time before and after the KCP program. Getting to Japan and then starting KCP and then going back home directly after finishing KCP is very difficult because that leaves very little time to experience Japanese culture because of the high demand KCP studies exert on you.

If you’re looking for an intensive course, then KCP is the place to go! Although it was hard work, it was also a lot of fun and I’m very pleased with my current language skill – and I’ve only just finished Level 1! Going out with the class for a final dinner really showed me how much we’d learnt as we had no problems in conveying our feelings even though our only common language was Japanese. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
