I enjoyed the cultural excursions and the class on the history of Japan.

Shana from Winter 2016

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Kamakura trip was fascinating, I really enjoyed seeing all the shrines and temples, and getting to stay at a ryokan.I loved the Edo Tokyo Museum, and would have like to go back (and will, if I get a chance to return to Japan)..

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I enjoyed the cultural excursions and the class on the history of Japan especially for culture class, and learning new grammar (and kanji/vocab) is always good. Also, Kato-sensei's support class was very helpful. Some of the grammar I already knew, and some of the culture class material.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I learned a lot in the History class, and the Tea ceremony. And I quite liked all the excursions, but especially the one to the Edo Tokyo Museum.

Where did you live?

Ikebukuro

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

The general arrangements were good. The neighborhood was nice, and the transit time wasn't too long. I ended up cooking most of my own food, as the only cafeteria available was at Rikkyo University, which was farther of a walk than was really convenient, but the kitchen worked well enough.

Testimonials

Choosing KCP was largely to do with the ease of application. A lot of other summer courses required a lot of paperwork and recommendations and transcripts that are a big pain to gather. But KCP’s application process was very easy and self-explanatory! Also, the student life photos looked interesting!
