I recommend KCP to anyone who would like to further their Japanese skills. Even my friends who had no prior experience learning Japanese before coming to KCP showed immense progress in being able to express themselves in Japanese after only two months.

Dianne from Summer Short 2019

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I really enjoyed the Yamanashi trip, because it was an opportunity to bond with my classmates and teachers. I particularly appreciated the effort that the teachers and administrators put in to come up with fun games and activities during the bus ride so that we wouldn't get bored.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most productive and interesting aspect of the program was the people. Not only meeting fellow US summer short students but also the regular KCP students, and getting to know all the wonderful staff was an unforgettable experience.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work and having to converse with my classmates strictly in Japanese was very helpful.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

I recommend KCP to anyone who would like to further their Japanese skills. Even my friends who had no prior experience learning Japanese before coming to KCP showed immense progress in being able to express themselves in Japanese after only two months. I've made unforgettable connections during my time at KCP, and my experience has helped me realize how passionate I am about learning Japanese. I hope to continue studying Japanese and stay in touch with everyone I met during the program.

Testimonials

I wanted to be in a major city in Japan and learn Japanese, and this program had good reviews online in addition to being affiliated with several universities that I knew of. There was also a decent amount of information available online from non-official sources, which gave me good information on living arrangements and general life as a student.
