I liked learning the history and culture of Japan from a native and going to places and seeing things I would have otherwise missed on my own.

The most productive aspect is probably having 6 hours of lessons a day. It’s a bit tough but I actually enjoyed it the most as I am interested in learning Japanese.

Speaking with Japanese college students was a great opportunity to meet people and practice conversation skills, and I wish we could have spent more time with them.

If you are willing to put forth your best effort, ask for help, and strive to do your best instead of the perfect grade.

Culture classes were regularly the highlights of my week. They allowed me to explore new areas with fellow students as well as Tanaka-san and Ryuhei-san as guides. Their knowledge and context was invaluable!

It’s worth it! Do your best to not use your mother tongue the whole time while you’re in Japan. Use Japanese as much as possible and get involved.

The most productive aspect of the program is that everything is taught in Japanese but you still have an extra class that you can go to if you need some extra help in English.

Both of them involved experiencing Japanese culture and understanding more about Japan.

These two experiences allowed me, and other students, to experience Japanese and culture directly as well as practice our language skills we were learning in class.

The most interesting aspects of the program was having to adapt to a Japanese learning environment without English & learning + applying the new grammar I learned throughout the course.
